Respite Services

Respite Services

Respite care is temporary relief care for families who face serious problems and stress as a result of balancing the needs of their child with the needs of other family members. Excelsior provides respite services to families who need a break from high-intensity caregiving and youth who benefit from a therapeutic program and structured environment.

A RSN contracted primary care provider may make a referral for planned Respite Care of 4-48 hours for both male and females. A youth’s Treatment Plan and/or Crisis Plan must include Respite as an intervention. This paperwork along with a copy of the RSN Respite referral, signed by the legal guardian and client should be faxed to us as soon as the need is identified. The legal guardian must sign the youth in and out of care.

Respite care may not be appropriate for youth requiring emergent crisis stabilization or intensive medical monitoring. Please contact us if you have any questions about appropriate referrals.
